of 1,600 students attend lasell, 78% live on campus, 45% come out-of-state, , 18% come ethnic minority. 36% of students @ lasell male.


athletics

lasell college member of national collegiate athletic association s division iii athletics. lasell lasers compete members of eastern college athletic conference, north atlantic conference, , great northeast athletic conferences in baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross-country, field hockey, softball, lacrosse, , track , field intervarsity sports. in 2009, mascot introduced: boomer torchbearer, named industrialists sponsored lasell s founding. along amazing women s , men s rugby team.


fashion program

lasell college known emphasis , strength in fashion program. prospective students can major in fashion communication , promotion, fashion retail & merchandising, , fashion design & production. college 1 of few colleges allow freshmen, sophomores, , juniors showcase garments in annual undergraduate fashion show in spring. seniors show final collections on separate day , showcase 8 looks walk down runway. fashion shows orchestrated other fashion students through weekly workshops , stage communication. recently, sonjia williams, lasell alumna, won coveted spot project runway contestant season 10 , reached top 4 contestants.


organizations

the student newspaper called 1851 chronicle in reference lasell s founding year, , student yearbook called lamp. polished magazine made lasell students , student-run online college radio station began operation in fall of 2004.


there social justice, service-oriented, religious, , multicultural organizations: divine step team, fashion , service society, hope humanity, hillel club, multicultural student union, niños de veracruz, students against drunk driving, , students advocating equality.


there academic organizations (accounting/finance, fashion, graphic design, hospitality, psychology, sports management, , tv/media) , athletic organizations (cheerleading, crew, dance, roller hockey, rugby, skiing , snowboarding, tennis, , wiffle ball clubs).

Sovereign Building Zollinger-Harned Company Building

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
