kelsey continued work fda while being recognised earlier work. still working @ fda s center drug evaluation , research in 1995 , appointed deputy scientific , medical affairs. in 1994, frances kelsey secondary school in mill bay, british columbia named in honour. retired in 2005.

in 2010, fda presented kelsey first drug safety excellence award , named annual award after her, announcing given 1 fda staff member annually. in announcing awards, center director steven k. galson said “i pleased have established dr. frances o. kelsey drug safety excellence award , recognize first recipients outstanding accomplishments in important aspect of drug regulation.”

kelsey turned 100 in july 2014, , shortly thereafter, in fall of 2014, moved washington, d.c., live daughter in london, ontario. in june 2015, when named order of canada, mercédes benegbi, thalidomide victim , head of thalidomide victims association of canada, praised dr. kelsey showing strength , courage refusing bend pressure drug company officials, , said “to us, our heroine, if did in country.”

kelsey died in london, ontario, on august 7, 2015 @ age of 101, less 24 hours after ontario’s lieutenant-governor, elizabeth dowdeswell, visited home present insignia of member of order of canada role against thalidomide.
