around date cleeve acquired estate in foots cray, kent, once property of sir francis walsingham. pulled down old house, , erected, @ distance north of it, palladian mansion of freestone. enclosed park round it, plantations of trees, , artificial canal. house known foots cray place. has been attributed architect isaac ware, on basis of 19th-century listing; howard colvin regards attribution acceptable on style ground, there no direct evidence. house damaged fire in 1949, , demolished.


cleeve acquired other land in kent before death on 1 march 1760.
