during summer of 2013 2 new construction projects broke ground on campus. new parking garage located on wintergreen ave , new academic science , laboratory building started in parking lot in front of jennings hall. both projects completed in 2015.


the renovation of old hilton c. buley library building has been ongoing last 30 years , completed.

southern connecticut state university shares new haven numerous other universities. university of new haven happens southern’s ultimate rival. total undergraduate students attending university of new haven happens 5,002, opposed southern s undergraduate student rate, 8,106. acceptance rate @ university of new haven approximately 82.1% opposed southern’s 64.6%. average sat scores southern 1385 whereas university of new haven’s sat scores 1580. lastly in-state tuition southern connecticut state university 9,000, whereas university of new haven 35,650.

Sovereign Building Zollinger-Harned Company Building

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
