the principal radio research instruments @ pari 2 26 meter radio telescopes , 4.6 meter radio telescope named smiley. these have been adapted precision tracking of celestial radio sources using multiple frequencies. smiley used remote classroom teaching of astronomy students in , worldwide. smiley given pleasant face around 1982 greeting overflying foreign surveillance satellites.


pari home astronomical photographic data archive (apda), site preserve astronomical photographic plates. these plates primary recording medium astronomy data late 19th century until 1980s. estimated on 2 million of plates exist in astronomy facilities around world , in jeopardy of being destroyed because of lack of storage facilities.


an exhibit gallery displays collection of rare meteorites , minerals nasa space shuttle artifacts, many of have flown in space.

Sovereign Building Zollinger-Harned Company Building

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
