vcds bilingual. because feature stereo audio, disc players have option play left or right audio channel. on films, feature english on left audio channel , cantonese on right; more commonly hong kong vcds feature mandarin on 1 channel , cantonese on other. similar selecting language track on dvd, except s limited 2 languages, due there being 2 audio channels (left , right). audio track becomes monaural.


vcd s noticeable disadvantage compared dvd image quality, due both more aggressive compression necessary fit video such small capacity compression method used. additionally, vcds available in stereo, while dvds capable of 6 channels of discrete surround sound. audio compression of vcds suffers not being able pull off haas effect matrixed surround sound.
