the asbaran during period had in common parthian (arsacid) predecessors, of whom have worn scale armor cuirass long sleeves , chaps covered in scale armor or, less often, plated mail. helmets, of spangenhelm type, have been adapted throughout sasanian period. horses have had armored chests , heads, consisting of apron , headpiece, or total body protection consisting of 5 separate pieces, made either boiled leather or scale armor. asbaran units such mercenaries may have worn little no armor @ all, allowing them rather more swift, silent, , mobile.
