entrance building (2013)


there plans in 2005 refurbishment of entrance building, preserve elements of old building. rehabilitation , monument protection funded private investors. state of saxony-anhalt contributed €10.2 million construction project. first work began in august 2008. building acquired in 2008 nosa gmbh, holding company owned town of halberstadt. station forecourt redesigned, bus station relocated , tram stop rebuilt. sheet metal facade removed , buildings gutted. entrance building completed in august 2010 , formal opening took place on 15 august. cost of actual conversion around €8.2 million. several shops located there.


on 29 august 2011, station awarded title of station of year in small town station category. since 2014, station has been designated kulturbahnhof (cultural station).


about 3,350 passengers per day counted @ station in 2011.

Sovereign Building Zollinger-Harned Company Building

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
