the engines of f103 series development of daimler-benz military project never came being. dubbed mitteldruckmotor (medium-pressure engines) because of unusually high bmep (mean effective pressure, calculated brake torque) values, led thermodynamic efficiency. engines had spiral-formed intake channels gave fuel-air mixture swirl. engine had heron-type combustion chambers broad squish bands, further enhancing mixture swirl , aiding combustion. these features made possible use high compression ratios time. initial engine version had cr of 11.2 1 98 ron fuel , engines intended 92 ron fuel had cr of 9 1, unusually high value time.
