stanley married lady maureen, daughter of charles vane-tempest-stewart, 7th marquess of londonderry , hon. edith chaplin, in 1920. had 1 son , 1 daughter: (i) michael charles stanley (1921–1990), married (aileen) fortune constance hugh smith , had 2 sons; , (ii) kathryn edith helen stanley dcvo (1923–2004), lady-in-waiting queen elizabeth ii 1955 2002 , married sir john dugdale kcvo (1923–1994) , had 2 daughters , 2 sons.


lady maureen died in june 1942, aged 41. stanley survived 8 years , died in december 1950, aged 54.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
