biography
early years

martin began playing guitar child , in adolescence played in bands shadows, modern movement , stickmen. in 1988, jeff graduated sandwich secondary school along future tea party bandmates jeff burrows , stuart chatwood. went on study music @ university of windsor before leaving studies prematurely due philosophical differences music professor.

martin has perfect pitch, highlighted on science of rock concert , episode of daily planet on discovery channel canada. has synesthesia, heard during alternate tunings guitar workshop maton guitars.

professional career
the tea party (1990–2005) (2011– present)

forming tea party in 1990 after marathon jam session @ cherry beach rehearsal studios in toronto, martin (a self-confessed control freak ) produced of tea party s albums, including eponymous debut album in 1991, distributing through band s own label, eternal discs. in 1993 tea party signed emi music canada , released first major label recording entitled splendor solis. martin employed open tunings imitate indian instruments such sitar, has continued employ throughout career. further developing tea party s sound in 1995, edges of twilight recorded array of indian , middle-eastern instrumentation while martin drew lyrical inspiration occult themes , pagan influenced literature.

upon returning successful tours in canada, europe , australia in 1996, tea party went on record alhambra, enhanced cd features acoustic re-recordings of songs edges of twilight, followed brief tour around canada known alhambra acoustic , eclectic . transmission, released in 1997, saw martin s first foray electronica, martin conceding transmission honest attempt @ going somewhere poetically people unnerved go. dark, extremely angry , listen in mindset. mean me, going went transmission, destroyed me. triptych followed in 1999; first single heaven coming down rose #1 on canadian radio. lyrically, martin less enigmatic on previous albums: on triptych wrote experiences of years in band. after releasing tangents, singles compilation, in 2000 , illuminations, dvd compilation of music videos martin remixed in surround sound, tea party released interzone mantras in 2001 , 7 circles in 2004. in october 2005, tea party disbanded due creative differences.

the band members regrouped in 2011 series of shows in native canada. success of these dates led tea party reforming permanently.

solo career (2005–2008)

martin s debut solo album titled exile , kingdom released in canada , australia in 2006. among worked martin michael lee , ritesh das (toronto tabla ensemble). first single, titled world calling , open letter bush administration. during time martin supposed collaborate scott stapp did not ensue. in november 2006, martin released live album recorded september, titled live in brisbane 2006. two-disc album features ritesh das , toronto tabla ensemble, , consists of both solo , tea party songs. album complete recording of live performance full of jeff s banter bandmates , audience, including thoughts on disbanding of tea party , sees himself in life. in may 2007, martin released second live album live in dublin recorded drummer wayne p. sheehy, while martin s first solo music dvd live @ enmore theatre released through shock dvd in july 2007.

the armada (2008–2010)

in 2008 martin (lead vocals, guitars) , sheehy (drums) formed armada. band s debut album, features similar sound tea party, released on november 4, 2008.

jeff martin 777 (2010–present)

in 2010, martin began work on new music jay cortez , malcolm clark (formerly of sleepy jackson) new album entitled ground cries out under new bandname of jeff martin 777. on january 10, 2011, title track album released on martin s myspace page. ground cries out released in canada on march 1, 2011 , has subsequently been released in australia. following jeff martin 777 canadian tour, band toured australia may 2011. during tour martin announced reunion of tea party canadian shows in july , august. following success of shows, tea party announced reunion permanent.

as record producer

martin nominated producer of year @ 2000 juno awards. martin has produced albums hundred mile house s ep, jay murphy band s propaganda, eternal s under new sun , tenth planet s prophet curse ep. played upon roy harper s green man. martin produced new album australian dark rock band eternal called under new sun . album features duet singer mark kelson on track sleeper . martin worked emerging australian band lepers , crooks produce debut album in 2016.

martin s recent work producer australian indie folk / rock duo secret solis. jeff produced debut ep, deep down @ river house studios lending band instrumentation , voice well. martin plays heavy guitars, hurdy gurdy , synths including theramin.

personal life

martin s former wife nicole gave birth first child in december 2004 in king edward memorial hospital, perth, western australia. named son django james patrick after jeff s heroes django reinhardt , jimmy page. song daystar exile , kingdom written him. martin has second child, darshan , australian photographer kate nutt.

martin remarried in 2016 australian publicist melissa barrett (martin).

he maintains studio in byron bay.
