the church of st andrew dates 14th century. restored in 1873 william butterfield. grade i listed building , contains 15th century stained glass , altar table of 1631. chest tomb in chancel believed contain remains of sir thomas cheddar , dated 1442. tower, rises 100 feet (30 m), contains bell dating 1759 made thomas bilbie of bilbie family.


there churches roman catholic, methodist , other denominations, including cheddar valley community church, not meet @ kings of wessex school on sunday, have own site on tweentown meeting during week. baptist chapel built in 1831.
