sophomore year

2010 smith s first year starting quarterback. year, completed 241 of 372 passes 2,763 yards, throwing 24 touchdowns , 7 interceptions, , rushing 217 yards on 106 attempts.


he got first start in season opener against coastal carolina chanticleers. completed 20 of 27 passes 216 yards, 2 touchdowns, , 1 interception. led team 31-0 victory on chanticleers.


with mountaineers down 21-6 against in-state rival, marshall, smith led team 4th quarter comeback victory. smith led first drive wvu 4-yard line. senior running noel devine, mountaineers cut marshall s lead 8 points. after wvu defense stopped marshall, punt put mountaineers near own end zone again, starting 2-yard line. after completing 9 of 13 passes , scrambling 20 yards, smith found tight end johnson in corner of endzone touchdown. marshall still leading 21-19, bill stewart elected go two-point conversion. smith completed pass wide receiver jock sanders in of end zone two-point conversion. mountaineers went on win game in overtime score of 24-21. smith finished game completing 32 of 45 passes 316 yards , 1 touchdown. rushed 13 yards on 14 attempts. after 2 games, smith lead big east in passing yards , passing efficiency.

in wvu s first meeting ever lsu, mountaineers lost @ tiger stadium score of 20-14. smith completed 14 of 29 pass attempts 119 yards, 2 touchdowns, , 1 interception. rushed 10 yards on 5 attempts.


smith threw 220 yards , ran 19 yards in west virginia s 49-10 win on unlv. points wvu had scored since playing connecticut in 2007.

with arrival of new west virginia football head coach dana holgorsen , new passing-based offensive system, smith saw passing numbers improve drastically. in fourth game of season against #2 lsu tigers, smith set school records completions (38), attempts (65), , passing yards (463) in 47-21 loss on september 24, 2011.


with 372 passing yards against cincinnati bearcats on november 12, smith tied big east record seventh 300-yard game of season. tied record set in 2007 brian brohm of louisville cardinals.


he set single-season school records pass completions (291), attempts (448) , yards (3,741) on november 25 against rival pittsburgh panthers. 3 records held marc bulger.


in west virginia s 70-33 rout of clemson tigers in 2012 orange bowl smith tied 3 individual bowl records: touchdown passes (six), touchdowns overall (seven) , total points (42). smith s 401 passing yards broke tom brady s orange bowl record of 396 set in 2000 orange bowl. smith became big east single-season passing leader 4,379 yards, breaking brian brohm s record set in 2007.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
