pullman-standard built entirety of equipment pool 1938 lightweight re-equipping, exception of 2 dining cars rebuilt in pennsylvania s altoona shops. equipment delivered included 8 18-roomette sleeping cars; 2 sleeper-bar-lounges; 4 4-compartment, 2-drawing room, 4-double bedroom sleeping cars; 2 13-double bedroom sleeping cars; , 2 view series sleeper-buffet-lounge-observation cars. dining car seated 24 @ tables (in both 1x1 , 2x2 configurations) , featured small bar @ 1 end seating two. sleeper-bar-lounge included secretary s room, barber shop, shower-bath, , bar/lounge both booth , chair seating.


the broadway limited received additional pullman equipment in 1949. included harbor cove , harbor rest, sleeper-bar-lounges 3 double bedrooms, , mountain view , tower view, sleeper-buffet-lounge-observation cars 2 master rooms , double bedroom. broadway limited received coaches first time in 1967, when merged general. under penn central train carried 2 or more coaches, 2 lounges, twin-unit diner, , 4 sleepers. better remaining passenger trains, had 2 or 3 cars, far cry old days.


amtrak singled out broadway limited special treatment , in 1972 refurbished equipment, of ex-penn central, although former union pacific railroad sleeping cars used. amtrak added slumbercoach consist. in 1974 amtrak tried out rebuilt 6-bedroom, 8-roomette ex-rock island sleeping cars, limited capacity reduced revenue. broadway limited began receiving rebuilt heritage fleet cars in 1980, , amfleet coaches thereafter. 68 cars rebuilt @ total cost of $9.8 million.
