the 3 kv dc class 10e2 electric locomotive designed south african railways (sar) toshiba , built union carriage , wagon (ucw) in nigel, transvaal. toshiba of japan supplied electrical equipment while ucw responsible mechanical components , assembly.


ucw delivered twenty-five locomotives sar in 1989 , 1990, numbered in range 10-101 10-125. company did not allocate builder’s numbers locomotives built sar, used sar unit numbers record keeping.
