the inaugural emirates cup took place on 28 july , 29 july 2007 , attended on 110,000 people filling stadium across two-day tournament. each club played 2 sides; valencia , arsenal did not face each other, , inter did not play against paris saint-germain. arsenal won first tournament, having beaten french opponents 2–1 , defeated inter same scoreline, courtesy of late robin van persie strike. following year hamburg made appearance alongside real madrid , juventus, , won tournament finished 2 points clear of second-place real.


in 2009, arsenal welcomed atlético madrid, rangers , paris saint-germain emirates cup. hosts regained trophy winning both of matches , scoring 5 goals; midfielder jack wilshere twice named man of match performances against atlético madrid , rangers. arsenal retained emirates cup in 2010, failed top table in next 3 tournaments. new york red bulls, captained former arsenal striker thierry henry, won emirates cup in 2011, after beating paris saint-germain , drawing hosts. tournament did not take place in 2012 due ongoing summer olympics in london; believed capital s infrastructure not able cater 100,000 supporters attend two-day event. when emirates cup resumed in 2013, turkish side galatasaray earned 9 points finish top of group, , year later valencia became first spanish winners of tournament hosts lost decisive game against monaco.


arsenal claimed fourth emirates cup in 2015; competition held on final weekend of july. hosts scored 7 goals in tournament – 6 against olympique lyonnais, later became first team in competition s history not score goal in either of matches. due extended schedule of uefa euro 2016 , essential pitch reconstruction works @ emirates stadium, emirates cup did not take place in pre-season period of 2016–17 season.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
