choir

the school has traditionally had 2 show choirs: new spirit, all-girls show choir, , chanteurs, mixed show choir. chanteurs , new spirit have been around 59 , 35 years, respectively, of 2011. both groups have earned highest honors in competitions throughout southern california, maintaining ranks 2 of top show choirs in years running.


the choral program includes concert choir, consists of male , female choral singers performing classical pieces, , treble choir, consists of lower classmen female singers learning sing in choir setting. arcadia high school choral department hosts annual pow wow show choir invitational. arcadia choral department directed mr. rollie maxson, director on 20 years, retired in 2010. mr. rick england choir director.


starting 2012-2013 school year, arcadia high school have 2 mixed show choirs chanteurs (advanced mixed) , harmonix (intermediate mixed). creation of intermediate mixed show choir ( harmonix ) @ arcadia high school, women s group new spirit has been dissolved.


colorguard

directed mindy cobb, arcadia s colorguard competes @ world class level , scholastic level. @ world championships arcadia world guard has placed 5th in 2005, , 3rd in 2006, 2007, , 2013. world guard has won gold @ southern california championships numerous times.


concert band

concert band divided 3 levels: band i, band ii, , band iii. band consists of freshman. band ii divided 2 classes due size: brass , woodwinds, , consists of players not freshmen , not in band iii. band iii selective top-level concert band, audition requirement enter.


orchestra

the orchestra has competed in heritage festivals in orlando, san francisco , san diego , winning first place in 3 divisions 3 orchestras. orchestra, concert band, divided 3 levels: orchestra i, orchestra ii, , orchestra iii. orchestra iii has annual audition process, selecting qualify next years group.


instrumental music

the instrumental music department draws strong music programs @ arcadia middle schools. music department consists of groups such marching band, orchestra, color guard, open , world percussion.


the marching band has on 300 members. arcadia apache marching band consists of band, color guard , percussion. band has marched in rose parade in nearby pasadena fifteen times, in 2012. have marched in venues gator bowl parade , 44th presidential inaugural parade. arcadia has held annual arcadia festival of bands since 1954.


performing arts

arcadia has drama program, dance/prop production program (colorguard) has placed third in nation twice, dance program, advanced dance company (orchesis), 4 choirs , large instrumental music program. arcadia high school theatre department won first place in high school intermediate category ensemble performance of oklahoma!. competing schools on united states, secured first-place trophy in february 2012. in 2013, arcadia high school theatre department took home drama teachers association of southern california (dtasc) sweepstakes trophy. out of 66 schools throughout southern california, arcadia high school won first place awards ranking them in first place overall sweepstakes award.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
