arcadia high school governed california interscholastic federation (cif) southern section member of pacific league. athletic mascot apache , colors cardinal , gold. apache boys compete in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track , field, volleyball, water polo. apache girls compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track , field, volleyball, , water polo. there pep squad song, cheer, , pep flags. arcadia s main rival crescenta valley high school. both teams contend league championship.


arcadia teams qualify cif playoffs. in 2005, boys soccer finalist in division iii cif playoffs. girls track team has lost 2 dual meets in last 4 years , regularly send athletes cif finals. more recently, girls soccer team has won 5 consecutive league titles , had back trips cif quarter finals girls soccer.

the boys cross country team placed 3rd, 7th, 8th, 4th, 3rd, 1st, 2nd , 1st in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, , 2012 california interscholastic federation cif-state cross country championships in division i, respectively. led renowned head coach jim o brien.


in 2005 qualified state championship first time in school history. placed third overall , earned spot on state podium. in 2006, arcadia went nike team nationals championship open race andrew pilavjian led way apaches ninth fastest american runner on day placed seventh in open race , fourteenth overall (open , invitational races combined, including kenyan national runners).


in 2008, team placed fourth in division @ state championships , came in second in open (non-invitational) race behind kenya @ nike team nationals. renaud poizat led team @ state championship fifth place showing. placed third @ state championship in 2009, losing narrow margin of 12 points. in 2010, team took first place @ nike team nationals , set new record lowest team time in history. team remained undefeated entire season , broke california state record. arcadia senior cross country star ammar mousa named gatorade boys cross country runner of year in california second straight year in 2011. defending state champions in 2011, arcadia came short of back-to-back state championships placed 2nd, did end placing fourth @ national championships. led individual state champion sergio gonzalez.


in 2012, boys cross country team won state championship, led estevan de la rosa. went on win nike cross national championships.


the boys track team has been successful 2005, winning on 90% of meets , 3 league championships in row, (2005–07). in 2009, arcadia track became first team in pacific league undefeated on every level. boys , girls frosh , boys , girls varsity unbeaten. 44-0. 2009 4th league championship arcadia varsity boys track in 5 years. girls varsity has repeated league champion third straight year (07-09). coach doug speck inducted cross country coaches association hall of fame @ mt. san antonio college in 2009.


arcadia known arcadia invitational, largest high school track meet in nation. meet has witnessed high school records being broken , has featured future olympians quincy watts, steve lewis, danny everett, valerie brisco-hooks, gail devers, mike powell, michael marsh, marion jones, allyson felix, monique henderson, deena kastor, michelle perry, alan webb, cathy freeman australia, bryshon nellum , other athletic stars such usc , buffalo bills wide receiver robert woods, usc wide receiver marqise lee, george farmer, de anthony thomas, george atkins iii, , remontay mcclain.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
