on september 8, 2009, lance announced purchasing stella d oro brand manufacturing equipment , inventory. thereafter began manufacturing stella d oro products in lance s ashland, ohio, bakery. bronx manufacturing location, not included in sale, closed after sale, , demolished in spring 2012.


in september 2010, 2 1 ruling national labor relations board affirmed june 2009 decision of administrative law judge stella d oro violated federal labor law refusing furnish detailed financial statements workers union support claims of needing contract concessions survive. board ordered company furnish pay interest, benefits two-month period after employees offered return work in may 2009, , before company took them in july. on march 28, 2013, second circuit court of appeals reversed nlrb s decision, finding stella d oro had not violated federal labor law.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
