the lobanov-rostovsky residence around 1890-1900


in 1824, mezzanine , first floor of residence rented ministry of war of russian empire 63,000 roubles year. on 23 june 1828, entire building bought state treasury 1 million roubles, , in 1829-1830 renovated meet ministry s needs. housed principal establishments of ministry until dissolution in 1918.


after october 1917, there military-political academy, aeronautical museum , dormitory located in building. 1946, project institute no. 1, head organisation designing industrial buildings , complexes, located here.


in 2009, project renovate building 4 seasons hotels , resorts chain started, scheduled open in 2011, postponed 2012 , later mid-2013. project subsequently completed, , hotel began operating 4 seasons hotel lion palace.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
