n. s. satya murthy, held phd university of bombay (1967), served assistant director @ bhabha atomic research centre , head of nuclear physics division of institution. research focused on magnetic materials , studies of materials of thermal neutrons have widened understanding of subject. murthy , team credited discovery of novel magnetic structures , polarizer thermal neutrons. contributions have been reported in design of neutron facilities of dhruva reactor , led group of scientists conceptualized , fabricated several components of reactor. contributed in developing superconducting magnets @ barc , work assisted in development of yafet-kittel type of ferrimagnetism. studies have been documented way of number of articles , article repository of indian academy of sciences has listed 23 of them. besides, published monograph, magnetism, along l. madhav rao , work has been cited other scientists.


murthy introduced such experimental techniques compton profile spectroscopy, mossbauer spectroscopy , raman spectroscopy @ barc , pioneered basic research on subjects electron states, of cooperative effects , long wavelength excitations. contributed establishment of raja ramanna centre advanced technology , 1 of founders of magnetics society of india served vice president. coordinated academic courses on magnetism , integrated circuits indian physics association , general secretary of organization 2 terms 1973 1977. editorial board member of bulletin of materials science.


satya murthy died on 8 october 1984, @ age of 48.

the sovereign building in 2011 the whitehall mall store sold leh s department store, several years flagship store on hamilton street in allentown remained vacant. added national register of historic places in 1979. in december 1982 allentown store purchased sovereign realty , development. building renovated , reopened sovereign building in may 1984. renovations included glass-arched entrance pedestrian plaza between hamilton , court streets leading grapefruit-domed lobby decor of antique brass, mirrors, greenery , wing-backed chairs. main floor , basement developed retail spaces, while upper floors turned 42 private office suites. sovereign later went financial difficulties , building sold @ sheriffs sale on 22 september 1989. today building operated office building owner resides in philadelphia.
